During the next vegan meet, we’ll have a special guest speaker. Dr Nandita Shah will present a short talk on being vegan in a non-vegan world, and the health aspects of being vegan. She’ll be happy to answer your questions after the talk. We will also share a vegan meal, as usual, so please bring your favourite vegan dish!
Being vegan in a non- vegan world
Being vegan in a non vegan world is not that easy, and though we are determined there are many stumbling blocks. But there are many reasons why everyone should go vegan – there is the environmental argument, the health argument and last but certainly not least the animal rights argument. In a country like ours, vegan diets could also save many from going hungry.
Dr Nandita Shah regularly conducts Peas vs Pills workshops to help people prevent and reverse diseases with a whole-food plant based diet. This is not a new concept. Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine said, “Let food be thy medicine, and thy medicine food”. Unfortunately today doctors don’t get much training on either preventive medicine, or nutrition. This is why there are many myths floating around about foods that are good for health.
Dr Nandita Shah will be speaking to us on Being vegan in a non vegan world. She will be especially covering the health aspects of being vegan and will be answering your queries about the health aspects of a vegan diet. Hopefully this talk will help you further when people ask you why you are vegan and will give you advice to guide them to a healthy vegan lifestyle as well.
